Door Hardware Grades

Sometimes better is better than best!

Choosing the optimum grade of door hardware for your project depends on a number of factors, not the least of which is the projected number of times the door and hardware will be operated in its lifetime. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has developed a set of door hardware grades that can be used as a preliminary guide, based on use cycles and end use – commercial or residential.

Select high-end Grade 1 locksets are developed for 10 million cycles and others are developed for 1 million cycles. The overall quality and durability of commercial hardware within Grade 1 also varies. Hardware grades, cycles and quality impact the cost.  Sometimes it makes perfect sense to lower your costs by investing in a low-end Grade 1 or high-end Grade 2 lockset for low traffic commercial doors.

Just ask! Our professional project managers and estimating and detailing teams can help you select the optimum hardware grades and products to satisfy both your budget and your long-term operating needs.
